3000 BCE - 1200 BCE: The Rise of City-States
The Bronze Age was the era when the Canaanites became the dominant culture in the region. They were not a single empire but a collection of powerful city-states that shared a common language and culture.
During the New Kingdom period (c. 1550 - 1070 BCE), Egypt extended its direct rule over Canaan. Major cities like Gaza served as administrative centers for the Egyptian Pharaohs, collecting taxes and managing trade routes.
The Bronze Age ended around 1200 BCE with a mysterious "Late Bronze Age Collapse," where many great cities were destroyed, leading into the Iron Age.
